Director hired for Voltron movie

Director hired for Voltron movie

A few weeks ago they announced that a movie called Voltron: Defender of the universe was in the works. If you don’t know what voltron is, it’s kind of like Transformers but with five robots joined together while fighting. According to latinreview the producers have chosen to direct the film, Max Makowski.

sources tell me he’s actually a great choice. I honestly hope so and I at least give everyone the benefit of the doubt. I’m told he’s on every studio’s hot list these days because of some Sundance movie he made a few years ago about warring assassins called ONE LAST DANCE.

Makowski was the director of hit reality TV show, “Queer Eye for the Straight Guy”. Max is supposed to have a great visual style that’s very specific and all his own, so I guess we’ll have to wait and see some more news about this.

Facebook: The movie

Facebook: The movie

Word spread on the web that a feature film about 24 year old creator Mark Zuckerberg on how he became the youngest billionaire in the world. Aaron Sorkin (A Few Good Men, Charlie Wilson’s War) was brought on board to write the story of the facebook creator. Sorkin even joined Facebook just to see how the whole thing works.

“I’ve just agreed to write a movie for Sony and producer Scott Rudin about how Facebook was invented. I figured a good first step in my preparation would be finding out what Facebook is, so I’ve started this page. (Actually it was started by my researcher, Ian Reichbach, because my grandmother has more Internet savvy than I do and she’s been dead for 33 years.)”

This can actually be a pretty interesting bio-pic. I’m curious to see the whole story behind creating facebook.

The Strangers gets a sequel

The Strangers gets a sequel

THE STRANGERS starring Liv Tyler and Scott Speedman was a surprise hit of the summer this year scoring nearly $54 million at the domestic box office compared to it’s $9 million budget. Rogue pictures announced that they were making a sequel and that they were bringing back the writer of the movie (Bryan Bertino).

Rogue Pictures has set in motion a sequel to its summer hit “The Strangers” and has set Bryan Bertino to return to write the script.

Bertino wrote the original and made his directing debut on the film; it’s yet to be determined whether he’ll helm the sequel.

The expectation is that Liv Tyler, along with several of the original villains, will return. Production is being slated for early 2009.

I enjoyed the movie so I like the idea of them making a sequel, especially they way they ended it.

Vin Diesel wants to play a Marvel Villain

This may true or false, Vin Diesel has reported in an MTV interview that he would love to get a role has a villain in a Marvel comic book movie. Who could blame him with all the box office hits based on comic book turned movie. He mentioned that he had a character in mind, but wouldnt say. Another blogger mentioned him being Venom and I totally agree.

Who do you think hes got in mind?

Two new Jason Statham Pics

Two new Jason Statham Pics

Here’s two new pics of Jason Statham upcoming movies “The Transporter 3″ and “Crank 2 High Voltage”. For years now, theres hasn’t been any action super stars like the good old days (Arnold Schwarzenegger, Sylvester Stallone, Bruce Willis, and the list goes on). Now this generation has mister Statham with his career growing every movie he releases. I’m a big fan of his and cant wait for his two upcoming movies.

The first pic is from Crank 2: High Voltage and the second is from The Transporter 3.

Dragonball rumors cleared and trailer date set

Dragonball rumors cleared and trailer date set

After the rumors about the Dragonball movie being caned, 20th Century FOX responded that the rumors were fake. Also that the trailer of the movie would be shown October 17th with the opening of the game adaptation Max Payne.

The film was completed a while ago, and the reasons for moving the film’s release date from this summer to next spring was to insure that all of the needed special effects were completed. We have a source that is very close to the film. And he/she says that the first edit is done, and that it has been shown to those “higher ups” at Fox. And that they love the finished film. Our studio contact, who we aren’t allowed to name at the moment, worked on the production, and has seen the completed movie. Everyone involved seems to think they have a hit on their hands, and he even went on to say that it was “pretty darn awesome. There is certainly talk about a sequel. I have no doubt that it will happen. I’m sure that it will be a trilogy.”

I’m one of those big fan of the Dragonball franchise but hates the idea of a live action movie. I may be wrong and the movie could turn out great. I will give a final judgement when I see the trailer on October 17th. Dragonball is scheduled to be released on April 10, 2009.

A Sequel to Rob Zombies Halloween

A Sequel to Rob Zombies Halloween

Dimension Film’s, Bob Weinstein, has recruited Directors and writers of the French Movie A l’intérieur (Inside). Alexandre Bustillo and Julien Maury would be directing the sequel to Rob Zombies Re-Imagination of Halloween.

“it’s a proposition we couldn’t refuse.” Maury explains they’re reverent of Zombie’s re-imagining of Michael Myers and they’re out to put their stamp on the character not copy what came before them. “Therefore, our vision will be done with upmost respect, with a continuity of [Zombie's] work but also a real evolution of the world he set in place.”

At first I didnt like the idea that Rob Zombie remade a classic horror like Halloween, but after watching it I really enjoyed the way Rob directed it and wrote it. The new directors only directed and wrote one movie, so im kinda worried and anxious to see what they can do with Halloween 2.

Superman reboot confirmed

Superman reboot confirmed

WB has confirmed all the rumors about a superman reboot, due to the lack of popularity on the movie Superman returns. They have decided to go with a darker Superman, kinda like Christopher Nolan’s Batman.

‘Superman’ didn’t quite work as a film in the way that we wanted it to,” says Mr. Robinov. “It didn’t position the character the way he needed to be positioned.” “Had ‘Superman’ worked in 2006, we would have had a movie for Christmas of this year or 2009,” he adds. “But now the plan is just to reintroduce Superman without regard to a Batman and Superman movie at all.”

The also want to introduce a single film for each character, and then using those films and their sequels to built multicharacter movies. So we might see a Superman VS Batman movie (The new superman replacement VS Christian Bale).

This news isnt really a shocker since Superman Returns was OK movie, even though I liked Brandon Routh has Superman and Kevin Spacey has Lex Luther. With the HUGE success of The Dark Night, there is no doubt that WB has raised the standards of their comic book movies.

Dragonball movie cancelled??

Dragonball movie cancelled??

Some big news today about the Dragonball live movie. According to FilmJunk, the movie is about to be caned.

According to our tipster, the higher-ups at Fox are not too impressed the footage that has been shot thus far, and are seriously debating shutting the whole thing down. Now I have no idea if this is a real possibility or if the studio is just putting pressure on director James Wong to deliver, but the movie supposedly has a budget of over $100 million and I can understand them wanting to cut some losses while they still can.

I was a huge dragonball fanatic when I was growing up. I used to read the books even before the TV shows were shown on the North American TV stations. So when I heard Hollywood was making a live flick of it, i was a little disappointed (they always massacre stuff like this).

In Asia, im sure this movie would be HUGE, but in North America I dont think it will attract that much people (only fans that are excited about this movie).

Remember these are just RUMORS. 20th century Fox invested over 100 million so I dont think this will be cancelled.

Child’s Play Reboot ??

Child’s Play Reboot ??

Child’s Play went pretty much downhill after the second one when they decided to add more humor than horror. Don Mancini, the writer of the franchise, wants to reboot child’s play by forgeting about the humor and go back to scary.

Don Mancini the writer of the franchise will be helming the reboot as well writing script once again. AICN managed to track him down and talk about what the plan is with the new film and what, if any, feedback they have taken from the fans, “I think what we are mainly responding to, David and I, is the will of the fans, which is really telling us that they want to see a scary Chucky movie again. They want to go back to the straightforward horror rather than the horror comedy.”

I kinda like the idea of a reboot focusing it on being scrary, but I dont know if alot of people still care about chucky coming back.

What do you guys think?

Tropic Thunder Review

Tropic Thunder Review

Cast:
Tugg Speedmann Played by Ben Stiller
Kirk Lazarus Played by Robert Downey Jr.
Jeff Portnoy Played by Jack black
Alpa Chino Played by Brandon T. Jackson

Story:
Plagued by problems and infighting amongst its big name stars, the Vietnam war movie “Tropic Thunder” is about to shut down production so in desperation, director Damien Cockburn (Steve Coogan) takes his five squabbling actors into the jungle and leaves them there, where they get into trouble with the local Flaming Dragons drug cartel who believe them to be real soldiers. When the film’s star, former action hero Tugg Speedman (Ben Stiller), is captured by the Flaming Dragons, the other four actors must put aside their issues and work together to try and save him.

Review:
The movie starts off with hilarious trailers which they used has a great way to introduce the characters. Two things are memorable in this movie. The first thing is Robert Downey Jr. he’s a dude playing a dude disguised has another dude. Downey played this big time Australian actor. For the movie to be authentic, Downey’s character changed his skin color to play a black war vet. The way Downey played his character was freaking hilarious. He was so good that you would forget its Downey Jr. and that it was actually a black guy. It was amazing how he switch back to an Australian accent so easily.

The second memorable part (I kept best for last) was Tom fucking Cruise. I’m dead serious. Tom was the best part of the movie. He played a cameo in the movie (a powerful movie producer). He was probably in the movie for 10-12min, but man every second made me laugh so hard.

Every movie has its flaws and this one no different. The story of the movie was a bit weak, but the movie was so funny that its forgettable.

Tropic thunder is an hilarious comedy, which I think is the funniest of the year. I rate this movie a solid

8.5/10

New Transporter 3 Poster and Trailer

New Transporter 3 Poster and Trailer

Jason Statham is back for a third installment of the transporter. The first movie was freakin awesome. The stunts were amazing, the martial arts choreography was breath taking. The second movie was a disapointment, it had nothing to do with the first one. Judging from the trailer for Transporter 3, looks like Frank Martin’s back, kickin ass. Also with Robert Knepper playing the bad guy, you know its gonna be good !

Movie is scheduled to be released November 26, 2008

Diesel to direct Fast and Furious prequel

Diesel to direct Fast and Furious prequel

Diesel told CS.net that he would be directing a 20min prequel to the fourth installment of the fast and furious. Diesel will also star in it along with Michelle Rodriguez as Letty and Sung Kang as Ham (You may remember Letty from the first one and Hame from the third one). Nothing is set on it will be shown (TV, DVD feature….)

Now I’m just going to start off by saying that a 20min prequel isn’t long enough. It’s got to be at least 45-60min or at the least 30min long. Second, Vin Diesel’s career is pretty much over. The only Vin Diesel movie (Acting wise) I really enjoyed was “Find me Guilty”. Just hope with babylon AD and the upcoming Fast and Furious Flick this brings him back.
